Dinner/ Lunch

Warning: Major Food Porn Ahead!

Hi friends!!

I am REALLY trying to stay positive because this is the worst part of my week right now………Sunday night. I’m trying to push out of my mind that last Sunday night I only got 1.5 hours of sleep. Meh.

Anyways, I have had a jam-packed and super fun day and here is a recap! It is quite long though so be forewarned! πŸ™‚

This morning I headed over to the baby shower and enjoyed a crepe & mimosa for lunch!! They had the shower professionally catered by this swanky mediterranean bistro in town and I got to pick the executive chef’s brain for awhile…always fun! For my crepe, I got the veggie medley (just seasoned sauteed veggie inside the crepe with a black olive tapinade on top!) because the other options included cream, cream and MORE cream!

img_6517
The crepe seems to be hidden by a huge salad with yummy dijon vinegrette. And, the chef JUST MADE this whole wheat bread from scratch this morning before the shower! He was so excited for me to try it….I felt like a rockstar πŸ™‚ I also had one unpictured mimosa…very yummy!

Now, the REAL fun foodie part of my day started after I picked up Ryan and we headed into downtown St.Pete to go to the Grand Prix. I called and the brand new RAW restaurant had just opened up last week and it was right on the way so YOU KNOW we had to make a pit stop!!!!!

img_6520

It is a tiny place, but SO cute and quaint inside. Since I had just eaten I was not “starving” (but could always eat more!) and so I finally ordered what I have been wanting so badly since I heard about it for the first time a few weeks ago: their infamous 100% raw SOFT SERVE!!!!

img_6527
This picture just doesΒ  not do it justice. For starters, they had about 15 different soft serve flavors but I easily got talked into the chocolate peanut butter!! Their raw soft serve is made with pureed bananas and almond milk and my “sundae” was topped with raw cacao syrup and fresh juicy blackberries. It was seriously one of the BEST things I have EVER had!!!! Gina and Abbie, here is another reason to come visit me! πŸ˜‰

img_6530

Here I am with the owner…chatting it up and enjoying my ice cream!

img_6528

Yep, I was in foodie bliss heaven for sure! And you know the best part???!! The chef actually went to my school and they told me that one day this week I can come after work and shadow her around for the afternoon to learn how to make all the fun raw desserts!!!!!! Jealous??! I am SO stoked!! I have to call on Tuesday to set up a day this week when I can come! They make raw cookies, raw carrot cake, raw CANNOLIS! The whole nine yards. Just look at this cute little kitchen!

img_6524

And they had a whole wall set up for special raw nut butters! I had my eye on a few, which I have seen on Katie’s blog, but refrained because they were expensive and I am currently running a nut butter factory out of my house right now! πŸ˜‰

img_6525

img_6526

How convenient that Ryan’s office is only a few blocks down…hmmmmmm I see a lot of this place coming up in my future! Even Ryan was impressed with the ice cream. Next time I want to try the pineapple coconut, which she said was amazing as well!

So after my little trip to foodie heaven, we met up with our friends and went down to see Danica and all the race cars!

img_6531

img_6532

img_6536

It was fun, just SUPER hot and Danica crashed and was out of the race! I was sad because, of course, I cheer for the only girl in the crowd of boys! πŸ™‚

I got home just as my brother and dad were pulling out to eat at Pei Wei so you know I jumped in the car and made the trip with them! I ordered the “Thai Delight”, which featured thai basil, siracha, bell peppers and chili sauce, with tofu and steamed brown rice. It was fab.

img_6545

I forgot how much I love this place! And it is pretty healthy, too, depending on what you order of course. I am in love with the tofu there…..so chewy and delicious. I could have inhaled this whole meal but I limited myself to half so I could bring home leftovers for tomorrow! πŸ™‚

Check out my fortune!

img_6546

I didn’t eat the cookie, just took out the fortune, and I am 99.999% sure this pertains to my RACE and how AMAZING you all are with your support and donations! Only a couple of weeks ago I was so freaked out at the prospect of having to raise over $4,000 dollars on my own, but that fear has totally left. I’m so proud to “know” you guys and so thankful for all the amazing support and E-Cookbooks you have been buying!!!!

Speaking of Team in Training, tomorrow is the BIG DAY for Meghann’s second Blogger Bake Sale!!!!!!!

And yours truly will be making a delicious batch of homemade Super-Charge Me cookies for it! You know, the amazing and healthy cookies that I make that are jam-packed with all sorts of good stuff…like coconut, dark chocolate, oats, flax, dried cranberries, almond butter………..the works. So please support my girl Meghann and bid for these cookies tomorrow! I can’t wait to bake YOU a batch! πŸ™‚

That is all for now, folks. I am headed into the tub to rewind and then starting a new book. 3 AM comes mighty early!! πŸ™

ps—

I totally made Ryan do The Shred when he woke up this morning and, I love him, but he almost died! He admitted it was MUCH harder than he thought it would be and Jillian is a beast. I did the cardio circuits along with him as well as the push-ups for extra motivation and afterwards I asked him to give a comment for the blog and he just goes (while panting), “tough”.

And I love how the boy thought the Shred was hard. I want my guy to try it too, but I have a feeling even if he was DYING inside, he’d be all, “eh not too bad” just to stay macho πŸ™‚

That raw dessert place looks fab, and now you have something to look forward to during the work week. The Artisana line sounds yummy – here’s a review
    http://www.thenibble.com/zine/archives/artisana-nut-butters.asp#review
LOVED my first Ezekiels 7grain muffin, after yesterday’s run. So much more dense and satisfying than the standard ones. The Arnold’s thins make reasonable toast, but the muffins may be my new treat.
You’ve got me thinking about trying raw recipes and Shredding! (which I have no doubt will kick my behind……) So great to be able get ideas from folks so far away – the internet rocks.
Dh and I made our first trip to the Farmer’s Market yesterday – stocked up on strawberries, baby spinach, sundried tomatoes and picked up cupcakes (our not-so-secret vice) from a couple of local vendors. I have to restrain myself or I buy more produce than I can eat, between different markets Sat AND Sun, and WF just down the street (and they’re doubling the size of our TJ’s!). The champagne mangoes have been a hit.
    Sleep tight all!

Don’t worry about lost sleep– it’s lost so just keep plugging forward like you always do!
Maybe you sleep less because Sunday evening you have a lot of thoughts in your head? I have that problem ever since I started med school — brain overflow! Anyways, a sleep doctor told me if I work out more and tired myself out physically, I’ll sleep better. So far so good.

PS- We made the enchiladas tonight and they are superb! No enchilada sauce so i mixed canned tomato w/ taco seasoning.

PPS- Did shred today and almost died. I am still limp! I’m trying to get my bf to do it >:)

Jealous? Um yes! In Texas, we don’t even have regular vegan soft serve, let alone raw soft serve.

Thanks for the shout-out :). Ugh I wish those nut butters weren’t so expensive too! I’m hooked because they’re so good, but I have to ration them– so hard!

Jenna I am so excited you got to try Leafy Greens. Actually, it didn’t just open. I’ve been to the Madiera Beach & other St.Pete locations, & I believe this is the 3rd location? I hope it does well. I remember these ladies coming into MY WORK/store the day before their opening, loading up on bananas & zucchini. Amazing! I’ve tried the maple-soft serve. Eh, I tasted just rich banana! BUT OMG, the ZUCCHINI SPAGHETTI is RAW & AMAZING!!!!!!!!! You MUST try this! And, their “Real Deal” raw sandwich, esp. since you love that “other” raw sandwich!!! E-mail me if you have any other Q’s. This lady is amazing. She cured herself of… lupus, I believe, eating raw. She gave us a tour of the kitchen- all made-to-order & fresh, organic & amazing! Have fun!

Oh wow! You’re so lucky a raw place opened up in your town! I wish there was a raw place here but so far, haven’t seen any. However, those Artisana nut butters are available here at one of the organic health food stores I go to. I got a raw cocoa coconut butter a few weeks ago, it was okay but definitely not worth the very high price!
