Dexter Likes His Grass

by jenna on July 30, 2009

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is having a productive Thursday so far. First of all, let me tell you….that oatmeal creation in the almond butter jar kept me full for FIVE HOURS this morning! As in, so full I waited almost three hours to go running and then even after I ran I still wasn’t hungry! There must have been more nut butter in the jar than I thought ;)

So, yes, I ran my two miles on the treadmill while watching The Food Network (I love thee) and then headed to my parent’s house to catch-up and eat their food. Yes, I am that child that lives two miles from my parents and still goes and raids their fridge. Totally normal.

I dug deep into the fridge and came up with a turkey cheese and honey mustard sandwich on a ww arnold’s sandwich thin (they looove these), a half cup of Fage 2% with berries and some Rainier cherries on the side!
IMG_2309.JPG
The cherries were two for one at the store (!!) so my mom gave me the other big container, as well as this interesting “pet food” for Dexter!
IMG_2312.JPG
I guess its some sort of organic wheat grass-ish “grass” for pets….all pets really! Dexter totally went to town on it and then when he was done eating, he passed out on top of it and now is snoring away. Hmmmmm ;)
Rumor has it there’s a free showing of Food, Inc this evening at the Tampa Theatre at 7:30. I’m still trying to figure out how to go about getting tickets for that and hoping it’s true! I have been very excited to see the movie and now even more so because…its free!
Hoping everyone has a great afternoon—I have oodles of emails to catch up on!

Gotta love raiding the parents’ fridge. haha…:D I’ve never tried ranier cherries, but I’ve always wanted to. Are they more sour then the bing cherries??

Dexter looks like he’s having a field day with the grass! :D

I love the kitty grass, I grow my own at my parents house! They love it and it keeps them away from all my other plants that get them sick:)

Hey Jenna! Great looking lunch. Just wanted to mention, that if it’s the Qdoba sponsored showing, I went to the one in NYC and there were no tickets involved…you just show up, although seating was limited and I’d get there EARLY! The place was totally packed and we had to sit in the front row, haha. Enjoy! :)

I love watching Food Network in the gym. Once someone came up to me and said “How can you watch that while running? Looking at all that yummy food makes me SO hungry!” I use the shows for post-run fueling inspiration :-)

Food, Inc. is a great movie! I saw it a couple of weeks ago with my husband. It is thought-provoking, disturbing and well done. (I was mostly organic before seeing this and have been voting with my dollars ever since by buying only organic. I’m also eating mostly vegetarian since seeing it.) You will love it. It promotes conscious eating like you do.

Food Inc. is great!! It does a really good job of laying out all the issues with conventionally-produced food. You also made me want oatmeal really bad.

I am a huge proponent of raiding parent’s fridge. I live a couple miles away and always go there hungry because I know I’ll find something good!
Kitt’s eating grass is so cute, and yet kinda odd. Gotta love weird cat habits!

We were thinking about getting some grass for Scone too (that sounds weird). He’s eaten most of our plants, and now we have to keep them super high up so he doesn’t eat them!

Maybe I’ll have to invest?

Even if you can’t get the free tickets, still plan to go see Food, Inc anyway – it’s that good. Kind of like preaching to the choir, but still a good reminder and helps give us more explanation and evidence of why it’s so important to consider what you eat.

I don’t live close to my mom but everytime we visit we raid her food. I love to find the little extras she keeps around that I don’t buy but enjoy occassionally at her home. She keeps dark chocolate in the freezer :-)
