Ryan, don’t read this!!! (He HATES just the thought of mushrooms!)
Hehe 😉
I just found a whole new level to the VwaV Mushroom Sauce that I made the other night—served on top of a comforting dish of whole wheat couscous and a chickpea cutlet. This was amazing…rich, creamy and super comforting. Luckily I had a frozen chickpea cutlet in the freezer that I just heated back up in the oven at 350 for 20 minutes and all I did was pour the reheated sauce on and dig in! Delicious. This sauce took a little time to make the other night but it was definitely worth it because you can use it in so many ways. I’m thinking I’ll try it over pasta for a creamy mushroom “alfredo” sauce later in the week. I also made my usual salad with carrots, romaine and cucumber with Woodstock dressing.
Not sure what tonight is bringing—I know we are torching our brulees and unmolding our creme caramels but I believe we are also making some bread pudding and one other thing as well. I guess it will just be a surprise!
I can’t refuse Lindsay’s request for more Dexter photos. Ain’t he cute with his little mouse?! He’s guarding it from me!

May 21, 2008 at 3:25 amhey jenna-and anyone else-I have to work nights and I get off at about 9:00pm. I am ALWAYS hungry and craving a snack before I go to bed. I really need something with protein or something more than just a cookie/cup of tea/bowl of cereal/etc. to fill me up (I’m not such a big sweets girl-I prefer a good turkey (sorry Jenna!) sandwich to a cookie). Do you have any suggestions? I don’t want a whole meal, just something that does the trick without leaving me stuffed. Thanx!

May 21, 2008 at 4:54 amAna, what about a hearty but light soup? I love Barefoot Contessa’s chicken chili, which has chicken breast, tomatoes, and lots of bell peppers in it and is super tasty, but also light and filling. You could make a big pot on Sunday and eat it throughout the week – it actually gets better as the flavors blend. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_27660,00.html

May 21, 2008 at 1:55 pmawww, dex looks just like the cat I had growing up. what a sweetie. keep those pictures coming!
ana – oatmeal! i normally don’t eat sweetened oatmeal but nature’s path instant oatmeal makes a great pre-bed snack. Or Greek yogurt if you are cool w/ dairy … there’s so much protein that it’s really filling for not a ton of calories (depending on the flavor)

May 21, 2008 at 8:51 pmANON,
I highly doubt that anyone is literally forcing you to read my blog and stare at my pathetic cat pictures. Why don’t you just call it a day and go be rude somewhere else, because it just so happens that I don’t like your comments, my other readers don’t like your comments, and my lovely kitten doesn’t like your comments either. Thanks. Bye.
