Lunch

Another Try

Well, Ryan and I drove over to The Grass Root for lunch today (I was FINALLY about to get him to go!) only to discover that they were closed!! It seemed like they were doing renovations inside and I really hope its not shutting down for good….I’m about to finally move here! They can’t shut down now! I was quite disappointed because I had my heart set on my favorite sandwich there so we had to think of plan b fast!

Greenwise! Its right around the corner from the condo and Ryan hadn’t been there yet so we decided to go there for lunch so I could give it another chance. And I’m glad I did! I take back what I said yesterday about the store….I just can’t compare it to Whole Foods. Both stores are great in their own ways. The prepared foods section of Greenwise simply cannot be beat—-even by Whole Foods. There is a sushi bar, a make your own pizza bar, a make your own sandwich and salad bar and a huuuuge hot bar. Ryan went NUTS. He loved the store so much he says we are going back tonight. I have never in my life seen him so excited about a grocery store–it was crazy!

After taking a grand tour of everything, I decided upon the special of the day at the create your own salad bar—-the cedar plank salmon salad!

The salad consisted of organic greens, red onion, capers, tomatoes, egg, two goat cheese rounds and a delicious piece of cedar plank grilled salmon. The dressing was a very light citrus vinegrette (so light I couldn’t even taste it, which was fine with me!). It was delicious and I inhaled the whole thing!

Ryan got the bbq chipotle burger with cheddar cheese. He was in hog heaven. We both drank Fuzes with lunch—I think the Empower Slenderize one is my new favorite! I have never seen this kind before in Vero Beach so I’ll have to get a few before I go….

On our tour of the store I noticed that pomegranates were buy one get one free and that spurred another whole shopping trip…..

I also had a macaroon for dessert:

We are just relaxing right now and then in an hour we are headed over to a friend’s house to watch the game.  As for dinner, Ryan just said he wants to go back to Greenwise to pick up sushi so I’m not arguing. I’ve never heard him so excited about a grocery store before! I think we might go see that new Reese Witherspoon christmas movie out as well.

Enjoy the day! I’ll see you tonight!

Sorry the restaurant was closed! It reminds me of this time I was on vacation and fell in love with this salad at a french bistro and tried to go back and have it for lunch a second time only to discover the place was randomly closed on tuesdays or something! Sorry! But that salmon salad looks delish – I want to try Greenwise now!

Greenwise sounds great! I love that Ryan’s excited about it too haha! Sorry if you’ve been asked this before but how did you make the macaroons? It’s okay if you can’t give a recipe but I was just wondering if you used an oven and how that worked. Thanks in advance!

    Enjoy your night 😀
