Lights Out

Hi guys, sorry for the late post but I am having quite a frustrating day today!!!!!!

There was apparently some “mix up” with the electric company and my apartment complex which not only resulted in me owing over one hundred dollars, but also my power being shut off. I’ve been on the phone with the electric company all day long and I have fixed the problem but my power won’t be turned back on until maybe 7:00 tonight! So….as you can imagine in Orlando in September, it is slowly getting hotter and hotter up here and I had to go to 711 to get a big bag of ice to throw in the fridge and freezer to hopefully save all my food. Of course there’s no internet right now either, so I’m outside sitting on the steps blogging right now. 🙁 I hope it comes back soon because it’s QUITE annoying and it wasn’t my fault either. Just goes to show you that sometimes life is not fair.

Anyways, I’m trying to stay positive and upbeat and hopefully the power will come back before I go to school because right now the temperature up here is rising to 80. Blah! This morning before all this nonsense went down, I did go to the gym and made up my own little spinning class for 30 minutes. By the end I was sweating bullets and felt like I had a great workout! When I finally DO join a gym, I am most excited to go to spinning classes again. I really like them and it’s non-impact so it’s great for cross-training. After spinning I did three sets of knee ins and bicycle crunches for my abs.

I drank this protein shake after my workout:

It’s a blended up mix of 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1/2 of a frozen banana and about 3 oz water.

A little while later (while I still had power), I made just what I was craving for lunch: a toasted turkey and cheddar whole wheat pita with carrots and an apple.

I used two slices organic turkey, 1 slice reduced fat cheddar cheese and I dipped it in dijon mustard. YUM! This lunch was perfecto.

And then……the power shut off and I became a very unhappy Jenna. After dealing with my apartment and the electric company for about two hours, I took off to find shelter in Barnes and Noble where it was nice and cool and I could relax. Here I am eating my snack while reading about Chi Running.

I got home a little while ago, still no power, and finally got around to the Yoga for Runners sequence on my ipod. The house is dark and hot….not good for much else but yoga. This class was great and really stretched my achy muscles. I highly recommend it even if you aren’t a runner!

Let’s hope the power comes back soon so I can eat something other than a can of tuna for dinner! Meh.

Sorry for your crazy afternoon, that is not fun. When I first moved to KC I lived with my best friend and her hubby. They went to the wrong house and turned off THEIR electricity instead of the house who hadn’t payed the bill. He was on the phone for over an hour and my girlfriend and I just sat and listened to him while he was on the phone. He was M-A-D, and refused to get off the phone until our power came back on.

Boo, sucks about the power! Seeking out air conditioning in a book store is always a good idea!

    Jenna,
Sorry to hear about the power outage. That is no fun.

As for the spin classes, hubby and I go every Saturday (60 min.) and Sunday (50 min.) and we enjoy it. This past week with the holiday there was a special race day spin class on Monday and it was also 60 min. I’ll be looking in to getting some spin shoes soon. I wish I could make it to one of the spin classes during the week but my first love is Turbo Kick and I do that 3x during the week. Oh well.

Hope your power comes back on soon.
