I sure am getting spoiled over here:
This morning I went out for a short run (it.was.COLD) and when I got back, my grandma had lunch waiting for me. Grandma, will you come live with me in Sonoma? Please?
You know what else is great about grandparents? They have all your old favorites in their pantry. This morning I had honey nut cheerios and strawberries that my grandma had sprinkled with sugar.
And now, I have an important declaration I must get off my chest.
Anyone? Anyone?
I was just informed that my favorite candy has been discontinued indefinitely. I grew up eating these (you could only ever buy them in Milwaukee) and now they are gone forever and I have a hole in my heart. I’ve searched high and low, even resorting to looking on ebay, but there doesn’t seem to be a single candy raisin left in all of Wisconsin. If you have any information about the missing raisins, please contact me immediately. I will be your new best friend.
That is all.

May 8, 2010 at 1:44 pmWhat is it with grandparents and sprinkling sugar? My gran always used to make me a huge bowl of fruit for dessert…with about a tbsp of sugar poured all over it! Bless 😀

May 8, 2010 at 1:52 pmParents and grandparents will always spoil us. It’s great isn’t it? 😛 We can be 13 or 30, they pretty much treat us the same!

May 8, 2010 at 1:53 pmMaybe it’s a New England thing, but I’ve never even seen those before, and I’ve been to A LOT of candy shops. Were they like raisinettes?

May 8, 2010 at 2:15 pmI live in Milwaukee and the weather last weekend was wonderful so I’m bummed that you missed that and have to deal with this coldness. 😛 I’m feeling guilty that I didn’t run now though. I thought it was too cold & wet and here you are on vacation and you still ran. 🙂

May 8, 2010 at 4:32 pmI have never heard of those but I really dislike when ANYTHING is discontinued haha. Most recently someone told me Libby’s pumpkin is no more- if that is true I am going to be very upset!

May 8, 2010 at 4:42 pmYou look GORGEOUS! And you totally deserve to be spoiled by Grandma 😀 What a classic breakfast!!

May 8, 2010 at 4:43 pmI don’t know if the candy raisins will ever come back. They closed the plant in Pewaukee that used to make them two years ago and that was the only place that they made them. It’s sad because now it doesn’t smell like sugar by my parent’s house anymore. I’m just as heartbroken as you are. 🙁

May 8, 2010 at 4:53 pmI live in Northern WI and yes, it was COLD here this morning. I had to cover up my asparagus last night…in the snow! 😉 I didn’t get to run this morning, but the thought of running in weather this cold in May wasn’t too appealing. Enjoy your trip up north and being spoiled!

July 3, 2010 at 10:09 pmBorn in Milwaukee these were always my favorite. I even got all my kids and coworkers hooked on them until they discontinued them. I also signed the petition, asked Necco to sell me the receipe and checked everywhere for them including ebay. Funny though, while I was cleaning the house today I found one! Don’t know if I want to eat it, keep it or sell it 😉 It is probably 2 years old and kinda dried out and hard, but it might be the last one in existence ;-P Maybe I can have it analyzed and start making them again.
