This is where I grew up 🙂
My mom and I just got home from dinner, and man, was it good! I started the evening by ordering my favorite pre-dinner drink: a kir royale. For those of you that don’t know, a kir royale is creme de cassis and champagne. It’s really good! I only drank half though because we both started to get really hungry and decided to go to the restaurant early. To start, we shared mussels with garlic, white wine and tomatoes. I think I ate about four of five of these. I really like mussels, but have to be in the mood for them. They were amazing tonight! I then had a house salad with little gorganzola cheese crumbles, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and a herb vinegrette. I cleaned my plate! For my entree, I had the tuna (of course!). It was the best I’ve had in a very long time. They pan seared the tuna only for a few seconds so it was still rare on the inside. It was finished with a ponzo (soy + ginger glaze) sauce and served with a single diver’s sea scallop, a fried caulliflower blossem, seaweed salad and mashed potatoes. I ate all the seaweed salad, the scallop, the cauliflower and about 90% of the tuna. I didn’t eat the potatoes…in general I’m not a big mashed potatoes girl and I would rather save those calories and eat something amazing like the piece of ciabatta bread they served with dinner tonight! (it wasn’t as good as mine though!!!) To drink, I had a glass of sparking water and one glass of red wine.
My mom and I were both pretty full, but of course then the dessert menu came, and knowing me I couldn’t resist. We split the white chocolate raspberry bread pudding! I had to see how it compared to mine! It was very good…very, very good! 🙂 Now I am full and ready to hit the sack because I’m getting up early tomorrow morning to do a long run (probably about 4 or 5 miles) before my mom and I go out to breakfast at the country club we are staying at.
