Howdy!
Glad y’all like both the Old Spice guy and my guy….I think they are both pretty cute, myself, but I have to say that I’m partial to the latter.
Today was a good day in that I could both see and chew. This morning I wolfed down a huge bowl of egg white-banana-chocolate-peanut-butter oatmeal before work:
This bowl seemed extra large for some reason. And I liked it. (that’s what she said?)
And then later, I ate this:
And my day was made just like that. I saw three Carrot Cake Larabars at Whole Foods last night (the last three in stock) so I just went crazy and bought them all. I guess that just goes to show what kind of person I am. The bar was delicious, by the way. I like to bring Larabars with me to work because they are pretty much the only bar that will hold me over for a few hours. This bar had dates, carrots, unsweetened coconut, pineapple, raisins, almonds and extra virgin olive oil in it. I highly recommend going on a search and rescue mission for them in your area before they all get snatched up by a selfish Larabar lover like myself.
Did 40 minutes of a power yoga podcast after work. My calves are crazy sore from my leg workout yesterday so downward dog was a bit of a struggle but child’s pose sure felt nice! Drank a coooool protein shake with half a banana + frozen cherries after:

July 15, 2010 at 9:07 pmPutting eggs whites in the oatmeal is a great idea for added protein. Do you just mix it in when it’s cooking? Does it go in at a special time?
jenna
July 15, 2010 at 9:09 pmI just mix the egg whites right into the water the I cook the oats in—So easy!

July 15, 2010 at 9:22 pmLaraBars sound good. Read ‘Whole Foods’ and then kind of hard to think. Hmm. May need a 12-Step Program for Addiction to Whole Foods.

Laura
July 15, 2010 at 11:14 pmCarrot Cake Larabars!!!! Sounds awesome. Sadly only one store where I live sell Larabars and they have very limited flavours. I have only been able to try Cinnamon and Cherry, but I do have a Key Lime one that I am saving for a special occasion.
Courtney (Pancakes & Postcards)
July 15, 2010 at 11:35 pmI have never had a larabar! But the carrot cake Clif is a great pre-run snack…

July 15, 2010 at 11:55 pmThat carrot cake Larabar sounds right up my ally! If I see those at Whole Foods, I might buy out the stock, too!

July 16, 2010 at 3:42 amHappy to hear you are feeling better!
I badly want to try the Carrot Cake flavor of Larabars. My stores are always so slow getting new flavors in. I think it was just a month ago that I actually found the PB&J and Tropical Fruit ones! Lame.
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down)
July 16, 2010 at 3:56 amI’m a larabar snatcher too. And a KIND snatcher, which are going out of stock at my local grocery store. Gotta make sure I have at least a few in my pantry at all times. 😉

July 16, 2010 at 5:31 amI keep hearing about these, but all I hear is “I can’t find them anywhere.” I’m starting to think Larabar is creating supply and demand issues on purpose!

Jess.
July 16, 2010 at 6:17 amI have seen cherry banana smoothies a few times lately and now really want to try them. I don’t know that I have ever even seen frozen cherries around here but I will have to do some investigation. I love larabars but I am still partial to Clif bars, most likely because that is the first and only bar I ate for years lol…
Liz @ Tip Top Shape
July 16, 2010 at 6:18 amThey have Carrot Cake LaraBars?????!!!! Need them. Now. I know you said they were good but did they actually taste like Carrot Cake? I know the Clif one REALLY tastes like it.

July 16, 2010 at 6:40 amYou always make your shakes look so beautiful. I’m still stuck with a magic bullet that barely blends the top and bottom layer of my smoothies together. I dream for the day when my smoothie is all one, beautiful, uniformed color served in a wine glass. 😉

July 16, 2010 at 6:51 amI’m still on the hunt for that LaraBar. I refuse to give up….

July 16, 2010 at 10:05 amHi Jenna!
I’ve been a follower of your blog for years now, but never usually leave comments. I’m so inspired by what you’re doing with your life – it’s been so exciting watching your blog/online presence grow. I finally worked up the courage to start my own food blog and I’d love it if you would check it out if/when you have time: http://www.mealmuse.wordpress.com. I’m only about two posts in, but I’m having SO much fun with it!
Also, I recently moved back down to L.A. from San Francisco, where I spent four years going to school. If you ever need any recommendations on restaurants, cool things to do, etc., let me know! I miss that city 🙂
Have a great day and congrats on your success!

July 19, 2010 at 2:17 pmI love the taste of Larabars, but they only last me 1-2 hours. I wish Kashi Go Lean Rolls had fewer ingredients, but they keep me full for 3-4 hours, so I tend to stick to those.
