Partial To The Latter

Howdy!

Glad y’all like both the Old Spice guy and my guy….I think they are both pretty cute, myself, but I have to say that I’m partial to the latter.

Today was a good day in that I could both see and chew. This morning I wolfed down a huge bowl of egg white-banana-chocolate-peanut-butter oatmeal before work:

This bowl seemed extra large for some reason. And I liked it. (that’s what she said?)

And then later, I ate this:

And my day was made just like that. I saw three Carrot Cake Larabars at Whole Foods last night (the last three in stock) so I just went crazy and bought them all. I guess that just goes to show what kind of person I am. The bar was delicious, by the way. I like to bring Larabars with me to work because they are pretty much the only bar that will hold me over for a few hours. This bar had dates, carrots, unsweetened coconut, pineapple, raisins, almonds and extra virgin olive oil in it. I highly recommend going on a search and rescue mission for them in your area before they all get snatched up by a selfish Larabar lover like myself.

Did 40 minutes of a power yoga podcast after work. My calves are crazy sore from my leg workout yesterday so downward dog was a bit of a struggle but child’s pose sure felt nice! Drank a coooool protein shake with half a banana + frozen cherries after:

And then, zee piece de la resistance:

IMG_9936
I figured I’d roll with a salad tonight since I ate my body weight in beef and bean burritos last night.

IMG_9937
I just threw together some organic greens, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, white beans and Athenos feta and then had a slice of sprouted grain toast with Nuttzo on the side. And a gigantic unpictured slice of watermelon.
Gotta crank out some serious WORDS tonight!

Putting eggs whites in the oatmeal is a great idea for added protein. Do you just mix it in when it’s cooking? Does it go in at a special time?

I just mix the egg whites right into the water the I cook the oats in—So easy!

Carrot Cake Larabars!!!! Sounds awesome. Sadly only one store where I live sell Larabars and they have very limited flavours. I have only been able to try Cinnamon and Cherry, but I do have a Key Lime one that I am saving for a special occasion.

I have seen cherry banana smoothies a few times lately and now really want to try them. I don’t know that I have ever even seen frozen cherries around here but I will have to do some investigation. Hi Jenna!
I’ve been a follower of your blog for years now, but never usually leave comments. I’m so inspired by what you’re doing with your life – it’s been so exciting watching your blog/online presence grow. I finally worked up the courage to start my own food blog and I’d love it if you would check it out if/when you have time: http://www.mealmuse.wordpress.com. I’m only about two posts in, but I’m having SO much fun with it!
Also, I recently moved back down to L.A. from San Francisco, where I spent four years going to school. If you ever need any recommendations on restaurants, cool things to do, etc., let me know! I miss that city 🙂

Have a great day and congrats on your success!

I love the taste of Larabars, but they only last me 1-2 hours. I wish Kashi Go Lean Rolls had fewer ingredients, but they keep me full for 3-4 hours, so I tend to stick to those.
