Still raining. 🙁 However, tis just sprinkling so I still might go for that run. We’ll see. Need to give myself a little pep talk first.
Had an amazing bowl of overnight oats for breakfast!
I’m not sure why this was SO amazingly good but it just was. I used 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup Oikos, 1 T barney butter, 1 banana, cinnamon and agave. It rocked.
- 2.5 mile run
- power bootcamp class
- work on book
- clean out inbox
- bake super charge me cookies
Here we go!

Ugh I hear you on the weather – I need some sunshine (and no rain/snow) in my life! Oatmeal looks great. 🙂 I have that same bowl in blue and it’s the perfect size for my morning bowls of oats. 🙂 Have a great – and productive – day!
Heather (Heather's Dish)January 26, 2010 at 8:34 am
good luck on the run jenna! i hope it’s completely pain-free and fun 🙂 i actually wouldn’t mind a rainy day, but i know you’re ready for some sun!
KristenJanuary 26, 2010 at 8:41 am
Running in the rain can be really fun! Plus, it is better than snow 🙂
I hope you get out and run and that it is pain free.
Hillary @ Nutrition Nut on the RunJanuary 26, 2010 at 8:47 am
Cute short & sweet post =) Sounds like a great day! I made my first bowl of overnight oats yesterday with almost the exact recipe as above (minus 1/4 cup yogurt), and I wasn’t a fan =/ Too rich on my empty stomach. I guess hot oats are more my style?
DeniseJanuary 26, 2010 at 8:47 am
Have you given up your wine country lifestyle? It seems you don’t talk about wine or working at the winery anymore.
I do enjoy your updates. Good luck on the book!
jennaJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:05 am

I’ve always loved running in the rain, but I don’t get to do too much of it living in Phoenix! Hope you make it out there!
AmeenaJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:16 am
Have a good run! I think it is about to start raining here in Los Angeles too…
MeganJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:17 am

JennyJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:40 am
Ooh will you post your recipe for the Super Charge me cookies?! They sound great!
Mary (Food Fit & Fun)January 26, 2010 at 9:48 am

Amanda@thgrainsofparadiseJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:51 am
Send me some rain! It’s been the driest winter ever in Hawaii…Funny how the weather can be. Sorry, it’s been so wet for you your first year in Cali. I swear that is not normal. Hang in there! Aloha:-)
Katie@ Two Lives, One LifestyleJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:54 am
I hope your ankle feels great on your run, good luck with your to-do list!
katherineJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:54 am
Yay for super charge me cookies! Just made a batch on Sunday night. So delicious – so much so that I’ve snuck one or two in my breakfasts and desserts so far this week 😉
Hope you had a great run!
Megan (BitesoftheApple)January 26, 2010 at 9:55 am
You can do it on the run front (virtual pep talk!!)
Hope your ankle is feeling better…it’s great that you took a good chunk of time off instead of rushing it and maknig it worse!!!
Jessica @ The Process of HealingJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:55 am
Sounds like a fun day to me!!!!
And I had overnight oats for breakfast too (yours look yummy by the way). I have a theory that the deliciousness of overnight oats is totally random. Some days they are just out of this world good… no clue why!
Cynthia (It All Changes)January 26, 2010 at 9:56 am
Your to-do list looks like much more fun than mine.
1. keep hacking with cough
2. work on grant proposals due by the end of the week
3. manage crowds for kids programs
4. take nap to help get better.
Jasmine @ Eat Move WriteJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:59 am
Your day sounds busy, but fun. I’m sorry it’s still raining. SoCal is getting a break from the gloom thank goodness.
LaurenJanuary 26, 2010 at 10:10 am
Running in the rain is the one thing that I haven’t mastered yet. I’m so scared of ruining my expensive shoes.
adrienmelaineJanuary 26, 2010 at 10:12 am
you need to get out for rainy morning runs before breakfast- it gives you less time to think about it!
how long until this book comes out? that cornbread looks delish!
jennaJanuary 26, 2010 at 10:47 am
book is coming out in spring of 2011! 🙂
MMillerJanuary 26, 2010 at 10:19 am

Those super charge me cookies have me wanting one…and I don’t even know what they are!
Hope you had a great run!

Mmmm, super charge me cookies! I have a busy week ahead of me – I could use a little extra fuel.
p.s. what kind of cinnamon do you use?
theemptynutjarJanuary 26, 2010 at 11:16 am
I must make overnight oats. I dont know how u have your head screwed on so straight with nutrition. I talk today on my blog about the “extremes” of eating that seem to go “too” far..even on food blogs…but u seem so “chill”…no stresses or any of that crap 🙂 Great!
JilJanuary 26, 2010 at 11:30 am
Thankfully it is nice here, today, after it pouuured all day yesterday — though I’m assuming if it’s still raining where you are then it’ll eventually make its way over to the east coast, haha. The overnight oats look so good — I still have yet to try them out.
Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat)January 26, 2010 at 11:35 am
It’s grey and rainy here in DC, too, after we had an insanely warm day yesterday. Just got home from running errands and perfectly happy to chill at home in sweats with a big mug of coffee. 🙂
Emily Eats and ExercisesJanuary 26, 2010 at 11:38 am
That’s it, you’ve convinced me – I NEED to try overnight oats. Those look fabulous.
Hope you can talk yourself into a run in the rain. 🙂
Ally (Exercise and Pies)January 26, 2010 at 11:41 am
mmm, over night oats sound awesome! I have one more container of Fage yogurt, I think i’m going to give it a stab! The cookies sound fun, can’t wait to see em!
Katy ( The Balanced Foodie)January 26, 2010 at 12:07 pm
The weather just cleared up here, praying for clear skies soon so you can continue this renewed running high! I have to try some overnight oats tomorrow morning, yours sounded so good!
CaraJanuary 26, 2010 at 12:11 pm
I imagine the ability for you to now be able to run is enough motivation right? 😉
I hope your day gets sunnier!
AngieJanuary 26, 2010 at 12:40 pm
I tried the overnight oats this morning and they were delicious! It’s freezing here in Minnesota today though, so I definitely missed the warmth of hot oats 🙂 But in a time crunch, they really are great. And they taste fantastic!
It might be cold here, but we do have some glorious sunshine- here’s hoping you get some soon there too! It’s incredible what it does for your mood.
AndromedaJanuary 26, 2010 at 12:48 pm
I wanted to thank you for inspiring me in so many ways. I am addicted to checking your website a billion times a day to see if you have updated. LOL.. I also want to say thank you for introducing me to egg whites in oatmeal, agave and hummus. If it weren’t for you I would have never attempted any of the above said things.
I am currently trying to recover from an eating disorder and looking at your website has inspired me to strive for healthy rather then thin. So far it has been rough but, like anything; recovery will take time. I am looking forward to seeing your cookbook(is that what it is) because I love your recipes so far.
Anyway, I went for a run in the 15degree weather of Colorado and it was wonderful, I am sure you can hack a little rain! Your the pro here 😀
MeganJanuary 26, 2010 at 12:53 pm
Hey Jenna, I’ve been following the blog for awhile now (love it, by the way, we both moved away from home at the same time – I just moved to the other coast of FL, not the other coast of the US). Anyways, I was wondering what you’d recommend for someone who was interested in getting started in yoga, but for someone (like a poor graduate student) who can’t afford a studio. Any ideas?
Lisa (bakebikeblog)January 26, 2010 at 1:29 pm
Ahhh the ‘to do’ list help’s every time 🙂 Good luck with the run 🙂
Danielle (Coffee Run)January 26, 2010 at 1:42 pm
I’m actually jealous of your rain. It’s snowing over here!
NikiJanuary 26, 2010 at 2:14 pm
It’s hard for me to get out to run in the rain, I’m such a wimp about it! Haha!! The oats sound super yummy! Have a fabulous day!
AnnieJanuary 26, 2010 at 2:33 pm
Those oats look so good- I’ve recently started eating overnight oats, mostly for the sake of saving myself a few dishes to wash (I don’t own a microwave) but I really love them! I don’t mind eating things cold 🙂 Good luck on your run! I always feel so tough after I run in not-so-great weather.
marisa (vinyasa mama)January 26, 2010 at 3:12 pm
Would you mind posting the super charge me cookie recipie? i just did a quick search and couldn’t find it….
jennaJanuary 26, 2010 at 5:10 pm
The SCM cookie recipe is from the book “eat drink and be vegan” by dreena burton. I can’t repost the recipe for copyright issues but its an amazing cookbook! 🙂
JennaJanuary 26, 2010 at 4:28 pm
It’s weird how some meals like overnight oats, yogurt messes, oats or any breaky meal can taste so different just by using a different yogurt brand or peanut butter!!
Pam (@ TotalHealthCounseling)January 26, 2010 at 5:18 pm
Overnight oats are so good!! I like to pour 1/2 cup hot water over 1/2 cup of oats, let cool, then refrigerate overnight. Yum, I think I’ll go prepare some now for tomorrow!!!
Tyler RameyJanuary 27, 2010 at 7:36 am
Just tried overnight oats today for the FIRST TIME. Went well, pics on the blog! Asked for recipe ideas for them and everyone pointed me in your direction, so thanks! 🙂
