I said it last night and I’ll say it again this morning……
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!
So proud of the Crimson Tide last night. Feel bad for little Colt, but still. Roll Tide!
We had the most delicious BBQ ever from this tiny place in Sebastopol called Smokehouse.

I think the main reason I could never be a vegetarian again is because of pulled pork. Its just so darn good. I also had some baked beans, cornbread and slaw. Mmmmmmmmm
And then, don’t get mad, but I totally made a s’more and didn’t take a picture. I was focusing too much on the game…and my marshmallow! Twas delicious.
***
This morning I made egg white oatmeal:

Using 1/2 c oats, 1 c water, 2 egg whites, 1 banana, 1 T almond butter and a drizzle of agave. Plus Tazo Awake tea!
I am SORE from yoga bootcamp yesterday….my quads, my calves, my back, my shoulders, my tummy. I guess that’s a good thing though, right?!
Enjoy your Friday!

January 8, 2010 at 8:01 amThat BBQ looks delicious! I had to throw some cornbread and BBQ sauce into my plate last night to fill that craving
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is
January 8, 2010 at 8:01 amJenna – for real pulled pork is the reason I could never be vegetarian either. I LOVE IT. I crave it. I am in heaven eating it!
Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman
January 8, 2010 at 8:09 amMmm…s’mores. Possibly the most wonderful snack/dessert ever created. Here’s a question I’ve been meaning to ask: I understand that egg whites bulk up a bowl of oatmeal, keep you fuller, and add protein–but do they flavor it? I mean, can you taste the egg?
lindsay
January 8, 2010 at 8:09 amYour bbq plate looks freaking awesome. I have a weird obsession with cole slaw 🙂
Lauren @ Eater not a runner
January 8, 2010 at 8:11 amPulled pork is pretty much the best food ever 😉

January 8, 2010 at 8:12 amI love BBQ! I love being sore…is that weird? haha
Kelly
January 8, 2010 at 8:12 amIt’s probably a good thing you didn’t post a picture of the s’more because then I’d be craving one!!
Casey @ Spicy&Sweet)
January 8, 2010 at 8:12 amYummy oatmeal!! I’ve eaten enough smores in my lifetime to know what they look like, it’s ok. 🙂 hehe. Sounds super good!

January 8, 2010 at 8:15 amI keep forgetting to try adding egg whites to my oatmeal. Guess I’ll have to try again tomorrow!
Chelsea (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun)
January 8, 2010 at 8:17 amYay for your team! Also, major yay for that awesome BBQ spread. Holy whoa does that look delish. I agree, even though I rarely eat it, pulled pork is too delish to miss completely.
Thanks for the tips about egg whites in oatmeal. I’ve been incorporating them into my oats lately, and the result is a protein rich, fluffy bowl of goodness!
Whitney @ Lettuce Love
January 8, 2010 at 8:18 amI am so excited that Bama won!
Mae @OhhMay
January 8, 2010 at 8:23 amAhh the game was so good last night! I love egg white oats… I have them every morning!
Christie @ Honoring Health
January 8, 2010 at 8:25 amThat yoga sounded intense yesterday, I bet you are sore. When I went to the Baron Baptiste workshop back in November, it was crazy intense like that. He had us going from chair to boat, back and forth, back and forth and he made sure to remind us of no hands touching the floor, of course. Then, towards the end, we were doing wheel pushups that rocked my world. Love it!
I have a friend going to the personal immersion in October and I hope to one day do his teacher training.

January 8, 2010 at 8:27 amJenna-
I am de-lurking for a moment to say ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!. I live in Alabama and I understand EXACTLY what all the fuss is about!!! Love you blog. Keep it Up!!!

January 8, 2010 at 8:29 amI’m so disappointed for my Longhorns and Colt McCoy. He was so pumped for this game and to go out like that so early in the game. Our back-up qb tried his best but at least we didn’t give up without a fight. The outcome would have been different if we had our captain leading.
Jessica @ Jessica Balances
January 8, 2010 at 8:31 amYour BBQ spread looks SO good! I’m from Tennessee so I definitely “get” the interest/obsession with football. My family loves the Volunteers – go Vols! Haha
Sarah @ See Sarah Eat
January 8, 2010 at 8:32 amEven though I was rooting for Texas, I was glad to see Bama win since it had been 18 years since their last championship! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂

January 8, 2010 at 8:32 amJenna as a runner/bama fan, you should check out RoadID’s special deal because of their win. They are offering 15% off their red wrist ID elite (the code is pcBama til 1/9 roadid.com). I am not affiliated with them other than being a user of their products, but thought it was funny when I got the tweet and decided to share this with you.
My can’t be a vegan/vegetarian reason is sushi. I came back from being vegan because of sushi.

January 8, 2010 at 8:33 amI know nothing about football but your food looks great!! I miss cornbread so much!
Kati @ Living Well
January 8, 2010 at 8:36 amI did feel bad that he got hurt. I love me some cornbread!! A friend when I was younger showed me how to heat it up and top it with good ol bad for you pancake syrup. Oh my gosh it was good!
Jenny
January 8, 2010 at 8:41 amAwesome game! Congrats on the victory

January 8, 2010 at 8:44 amOhhh…I want a s’more.
Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen
January 8, 2010 at 8:46 amwhat a great game….on Alabama’s side anyway 🙂
i totally agree with you on the no-vegetarian thing. i could totally do it if meat wasn’t so darn amazing!
Tammy (Defining Wellness)
January 8, 2010 at 8:47 amThere are a lot of different opinions out there about when is best to add egg whites to oatmeal — at the beginning, middle or end. When do you find is best, Jenna?
mary ann
January 8, 2010 at 8:48 amso mary ann’s dumb quote after a long thursday at work: “Truth is, I’m basically a vegetarian who really likes meat… especially of the swine.” HAHAHA. Didn’t process what I had said until a few seconds after everyone started laughing.
much love, fellow-pulled pork lover!

January 8, 2010 at 9:00 amBBQ is the thing I miss most since being a vegetarian — I’ve tried BBQ tofu and it’s just not the same! 🙁
Ellen
January 8, 2010 at 9:04 amThat game broke my heart (and Colt’s I’m sure!)…..but Alabama had good D and I have to give credit to the HUGE Alabama guy that intercepted the ball and made a touchdown. Wow!
rebecca
January 8, 2010 at 9:04 amat what point in the cooking process do you add the egg whites to your oatmeal?
jenna
January 8, 2010 at 9:07 amrebecca and sarah,
I add the egg whites when I add the water as my oats cook on the stove.

January 8, 2010 at 9:33 amdo not feel bad for Colt, that kid is an idiot! why he would announce to every NFL scout in America that his arm is “dead feeling” without knowing a true diagnosis is beyond me!! I’ve started eating oatmeal and almond butter every morning this week and I love it!! so filling and delish!
Rachel
January 8, 2010 at 9:52 amI haven’t had pulled pork in so long! And you know you find the best in the south… I’m going to have to rectify this situation soon 🙂
Kara
January 8, 2010 at 10:11 amI love, love, love your blog, but reading your post this morning was actually a tiny bit painful for me. I am a diehard Longhorn.
And, to add to what everyone else is saying, that BBQ looks DELISH!

January 8, 2010 at 10:22 amCongrats re Crimson win! You have me craving pulled pork–have never had it!
Amanda @ Cakes and Ale
January 8, 2010 at 10:30 amPerfect meal for that game I must say. I always have to match up the right food to the right occassion, you know? Like it would have been totally inapprops to have sushi and watch Bama! You gotta go all out Southern style!
Heather @ (The Single Dish)
January 8, 2010 at 10:32 amI loved pull-pork too. A place near my office makes the best pull-pork quesadillas, to die for.

January 8, 2010 at 10:38 amMmmmm . . . pulled pork. Poor Texas, it would have been such an amazing come-back victory.

January 8, 2010 at 12:19 pmSo when making egg white omlets, oats etc. What do you do with the left over yolk? I feel bad tossing it, anyone have any suggestions?

January 8, 2010 at 12:38 pmAs another BAMA girl, I have to agree 100%. ROLL TIDE ROLL. Excellent game . . . can’t wait until next year 🙂
jenna
January 8, 2010 at 12:40 pmyum that pulled pork looks delish!! is it just me or are you eating more southern now that your on the west coast than when you were down south? 😉 Nonetheless, it looks amazingly good! I’m glad you enjoyed the game!

January 8, 2010 at 1:03 pmSo many people think that yoga is for pansies, but it so is not! Like you, I have been sore all week from yoga. I ran 14 miles today, and I probably won’t be sore from that. I took a couple of yoga classes this week, and I have been sore for 4 days!!! Amazing!

January 8, 2010 at 2:41 pmThat bun looks delicious as well! Pulled pork is one of the few meat tastes I miss; I still eat chicken but it’s just not the same.
Cynthia (It All Changes)
January 8, 2010 at 3:23 pmI could never go completely veggie either because some meat just tastes too good.
