Breakfast

Still in Bed

Are you guys wondering why I am posting this early when I’m usually at work??

Well, I called in sick! I felt horrible doing it and hope it doesn’t put the people I work with in a total bind, but I still CANNOT BREATHE at all and my head feels like it weights a thousand pounds. I just could not see myself being on my feet hauling dough around for 9 hours today. I needed some rest! I actually called in yesterday evening and knowing I didn’t have to wake up at 3 am definitely put an ease to my sleep anxieties. Even though I had to take loud breathes through my mouth (even Afrin didn’t unplug my nose!), I fell asleep around 8:15 and got a solid 9.5 hours of sleep! This morning I’m still all congested and blah but at least my eyes aren’t sunken into my head anymore from sleep deprivation!

I woke up around 5:30 and went downstairs to make coffee and a snack because I didn’t want to eat breakfast that early! All studies have shown that you really should eat something within an hour of waking up (good for your metabolism) and I like to keep my breakfast time around 7:30-8:00 every day. So, this morning I made a piece of Rudi’s whole wheat toast with a little peanut butter and raspberry preserves to take back up to bed with me–

It felt really really good to just lay in bed sipping my coffee and eating my toast (except for the fact I had to blow my nose every 2 seconds). My favorite part of the day is the morning when everyone else is still asleep but me and I can just take some time to myself….this morning I read some Psalms, prayed, read a little of my new book and worked on a new itunes playlist for my race on Sunday! I am ADDICTED to buying songs on Itunes. Seriously…it is a problem! What are some of yalls favorite running songs? Here is my new playlist:

  • So What- Pink
  • Gold Digger- Kanye West
  • Live Your Life– T.I & Rihanna
  • Heart of a Champion– Nelly
  • Hey Ya– OutKast (this one reminds me of freshman year of college and I LOVE it!!! so old school)
  • Shimmer– Fuel
  • Its a Fight– Three 6 Mafia
  • You Make Me Sick– Pink

Its crazy how much faster and more effective my runs are when I crank up good tunes! I NEVER listen to rap/hip hop other than when I’m running and Ryan laughed soooooo hard when I told him that, yes, I have three six mafia on my ipod. Okay, actually I said “I have three 10 mafia!!” and Ryan looked at me like I was crazy and then was like, “um Jenna, I think you mean three six mafia.” Duh. Who would have thought?! Usually I’m a country/contemporary christian music listener! haha =) I guess I just need me some Nelly and Kanye to get goin’ fast!

Around 7:30 I went downstairs and made breakfast….something different today!

Savory Oat Bran!

I used:

  • 1/2 cup oat bran cooked in 1 cup water
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 1 babybel cheese “melted” into the hot oat bran
  • 1 morningstar farms original grillers veggie burger (because my soysage is in Ryan’s freezer)
  • 2 microwaved egg whites for fluff!
  • TONS of texas pete

Very, very tasty! A nice change from my usual sweet & nutty oats although I did sort of miss my daily dose of almond butter! The day is still young though and I can make up for it later…

I also had some raspberry tea

I’m going to be lazy and lay in bed and read some more, then hit up the Y and later meet Courtney for lunch at Grassroots!

glad your feeling better! Fitforfree is right on the 311 front, I have tickets for their summer show next month but Jenna wont go with me because a) its on a sunday night and she has to work, and b) I went to crazy last time at 311/snoop, oh well!
Jenna you forgot to mention the theme song from Departed by the Dropkick Murphys on your run list! That helped me make it home last time! And can never go wrong with a little Michael Jackson and Guns N roses mixed in, yeah you laugh, but you like it!! try it!
Feel better and eat some hot sauce for lunch so you can finally breathe!

I agree – poppy rap and hip hop music is my go to for my running playlists. Also some rihanna, fergie and lady gaga. Oh and definitely Let it Rock by Kevin Rudolf.

I’m trying Kombucha in citrus right now… it’s slow going for sure… maybe the original (without all the lemon juice) is better?
