Good morning!
This morning I woke up at 6 a.m., threw on jeans, fleece, jacket and boots and drove out to the coast to watch the sunrise over the Pacific and give my new little camera a trial run. Yep, she works just fiiiiiine. 😉
You’d be proud of me—no flash! I still don’t really know what I’m doing but I shot in Av mode instead of the green manual one. The opportunities are endless!
I took my breakfast with me! Homemade pumpkin bread (made this yesterday, forgot to tell you!) with almond butter, yogurt and half a banana from the fridge.
Photos honestly don’t do it justice. I’ve been practicing yoga now for almost 9 years and just now do I really feel like I’m starting to actually be present. Sometimes, just breathing is enough.
I stuck my hand in the Pacific for the first time….IT WAS FREEZING!
And when I got home, MY BOOKS were sitting on my doorstep waiting for me! My mom figured out that if you said books through the post office rather than UPS, it’s only $12 per box. So, I started listing titles of all my favorites + cookbooks to fill up my little shelf.
Yesterday I was super productive since I was basically forced to sit at home all afternoon and wait for the UPS man to come since I had to sign for my camera. I got all my freelance articles done and a big chunk of emails out of the way. Today my goal is to find a Halloween costume for the winery’s party tomorrow night!
Be back!

October 28, 2009 at 11:45 amTerrific! Am so impressed. It’s a bit of a jaunt to the coast from Healdsburg, while I’m a couple minutes walk to the ocean here and sometimes skip days going. You make the upmost of everything and re-inspire me. Beautiful self-portrait.
BTW saw your Tweet re possible Paris trip in summer. Here’s a former neighbor’s apartment in the foodie 7th arrondisement on rue Saint Dominique—near Mecca–AKA Rue Cler. I think 3 bedrms/study/frpl ‘westernized’ with dishwasher, w/d, WiFi, etc. If a few friends chipped in would be inexpensive, such a great area foodie take-out area, too.
http://www.ourparishome.com/index.html
The 7th/Rue St. Dom is where Bemelmans set his ‘Madeline’ Books. And where ‘Paris Breakfast’ blogger often stays when she’s there making snaps that she then paints/sells on Etsy and pix on Flickr.

October 28, 2009 at 2:41 pmHi Jenna,
It’s actually even CHEAPER to use the post office for books when you tell them you want the book rate -it’s like $2-$3 a book max. If you have a ton to send, then, you should use the Priority Flat Rate Boxes – one rate no matter how heavy the box ($4.95-$13.95/max). Pretty cool huh?!
Yup – one thing that blogging taught me. I still can’t believe you now live less than an hour away from where I do and that we both work in Wine Country – FUN!
We have been having amazing sunrises lately. LOVE the new camera pics – you are doing awesome with them.

October 28, 2009 at 8:11 pmI have that camera too; ironically, in my first post I have the same sunrise pics, except they were taken in Florida (over the Atlantic). I find that indoors, the pictures come out just a wee bit “yellow,” and am working on how to solve that… I think step #1 would be locating the manual. Please let me know if you experience the same.
