First of all, the weather was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G today!!! I felt like I was back in South and it was the first day of Spring. It was so nice that after I left the studio, Adam, Rocky and I decided to head to the COAST for lunch at my very favorite spot—Island Deli. I’ve eaten fish tacos at this place numerous times (they rock my world) but was feelin’ a little something different today so I went with a bowl of clam chowder instead—-

This was actually a pleasant surprise because it wasn’t the thick, super creamy clam chowder that I’m used to. This tasted “healthier” (haha) and seemed to be made with less cream and more stock, with big chunks of clams and potatoes. It hit the spot! I also snagged a few of the guys fries…
When I got home, I knew I needed to take full advantage of this weather and so I headed outside to work out (it was a little too late for a long bike ride!). Ran a quick mile and a half then followed that up with lunges and push-ups. However, when I got inside and checked my email I saw that Anna had emailed me with tomorrow’s workout plan:
“10 jumping jacks
20 dips
30 pushups
40 crunches (any style)
50 squats or alternating lunges
~~3 rounds, or until we drop!”
Oh boy….here we go again! For a post-workout snack, I ate two kiwis. Lord knows I need to hit the grocery store!

Italian food was on the menu for dinner….something I need more of in my life! I met a friend here and it was fabulous! I rarely order pasta out (not because its “bad for you” but because a lot of chefs BUTCHER it and the pasta is nothing but mush) but when I see pasta with seafood on any Italian menu, I go for it full force. I LOVE it and ate it all the time in France!

Thanks again for your sweet comments about my hair! I’m having so much fun with it!!! It was so crazy this evening getting out of the shower and seeing my hair SO DARK in the mirror. When I was a blonde I usually flat ironed it to make it super smooth and straight, but I’ve decided as a brunette its more fun to add waves and body and let the flat iron rest.

I applied root lifter, my favorite Aveda smoothing serum and then blew it dry upside down with a round brush…then used a curling iron to spiral some pieces on top. It seems like a long process but really only took 15 minutes. I’m not a girl that likes to spend a ton of time on her hair!
Night!

February 15, 2010 at 9:59 pmi haven’t had clam chowder in ages… looks good!
and you’re so lucky you can wear blonde AND brown… i look so pale with brown hair that it looks unnatural but I do what you used to do and flat iron my hair or throw it up in a messy blonde. i dont know why but i’m afraid to tossle my blonde hair? i have a problem with change lol

February 15, 2010 at 9:59 pmAww, Jenna, you look gorgeouuus (as always)! The hair looks fab, but you just look so happy – and that’s what counts! 🙂 The food looks amazing. I’m a sucker for a good tiramisu, and now you’ve got my craving mussels!

February 15, 2010 at 10:51 pmI LOVE your new hair. I’m assuming it’s just a tad darker than your natural color? In any case, it really suits your coloring, and you look just gorgeous.

February 15, 2010 at 11:54 pmhaha i know how you feel on not wanting to spend much time on your hair! When i got my short sassy cut, I spend more time on that as opposed to when I had LONG hair! I could just let my long hair dry curly, the curly=not so good with the short hair

February 16, 2010 at 12:39 amYour hair is so YOU. I always thought you were pretty as a blonde but now I can’t even imagine you going back. It’s like a softer look or something…I don’t know….I just know I LOVE it.

February 16, 2010 at 3:11 amWow wow wow! Your hair is super stunning… it’s looking better and better. It makes your eyes go POW! [Sounds gross, but it’s a good thing!]
I’m also jealous that you can ‘do’ it up in 15 minutes. Is your hair pretty thick?
BTW: What colour did you ask them for at the salon? I’m always trying to go for that shade of brunette and it never seems quite right. Yours looks so chocolately and that’s what I want.
jenna
February 16, 2010 at 7:47 amJennie,
This is super embarrassing BUT….I totally brought in a photo of mandy moore and was like I WANT THAT!! 🙂 Its sort of a “chocolate brown” but has some unplanned red tones in it that I’m not if I like yet or not.
christie, honoring health
February 16, 2010 at 3:27 amEven 15 minutes is too long for me to spend on my hair! I have a pixie cut and have had it for about five years now. I have tried going back to longer hair and the time to make it look cute just isn’t worth it. My hair now, I don’t even have to blow it dry.
I must say though, I love the wavy look, it looks very romantic!

Glad you’re liking the new hair! I also recently went dark from my natural auburn/dark blonde-ish hair…and it’s been fun experimenting with different styles! I totally know what you mean about letting dark hair have its waves. Looks great!

February 16, 2010 at 4:44 amI looove this new look-your hair is just HOT and stunning girl.
Here’s a fun blog idea for you, after a week or so let us know if you feel people(in general, not really ones you know!)treat you any diff as blonde/brunette?
It’s an age old question, but I think there is something to it!
You look sultry and gorgeous-look out Cali men!

February 16, 2010 at 4:50 amWere you a natural blonde in the first place or did you dye your brows/always have darker brows?
How do you feel about running as well? Is it something you aspire to get back to – set some goals, etc?
I thought I was getting back into it months ago – only to be mistaken….now I’m grateful for the time for a walk I guess and trying to figure it all out…
and YES to PASTA 🙂

Hmm well now that I did it, I think i’m stuck with it for awhile…at least a few months. I really like it!

February 16, 2010 at 5:17 amI absolutely adore your hair like this!!! If I had the funds I would’ve done the same this summer! What Aveda serum are you talking about? Would it help make it less frizzy? Because I blow dry mine and it overall looks good except I get this halo of little frizzy hair… ugh!

February 16, 2010 at 5:18 amyou look so purty! your hair doesn’t look overdone at all, which i love…and i’m jealous you found “healthy” clam chowder…regular chowder is too rich for me, even though I love the taste!

How amazing that you can just drive over to the coast of California on a beautiful day and have lunch! Sure I could technically do that here in Florida but Cocoa beach is just not as beautiful! 🙂 Your pasta with seafood looks delicious! It’s one of my favorites too.

February 16, 2010 at 8:17 amJenna,
haha! I love Mandy Moore’s hair!! It’s gorgeous.
I always find my chocolate request ends up with red tones. My stylist always tells me it’s unavoidable because unless they put ash tones in dark hair, they have to go ‘golden’ and that means red. I don’t see how that’s true though, because plenty of celebs have red-free chocolate brown hair.
Still, though, your hair is super pretty.

February 16, 2010 at 12:54 pmThat pasta looks yummy. Was it cioppino by chance? I had that last week and feel that it is one of the better choices as restaurant pasta dishes go, since it’s got that flavorful tomato broth and lots of healthy steamed seafood. I wish I could go outside to get some exercise in but it is still too cold for me. Good job on changing up your routine though! That’s probably the best trick to keep from getting bored with exercise. Today at the gym I will try some new things and pretend that I am outside while I’m there.

February 18, 2010 at 7:41 pmI honestly think that hair color is totally you! I love it, think it looks great, I always want to do something drastic with my hair. When I cut 10 inches off, leaving it chin length about 2 years ago, I was soo scared to do, but it looked good after! next, im thinking bangs, which i haven’t had since I was like 5. ANYway, you look great!
