Breakfast

Sweet Morning Treats

So, if you didn’t get my late night memo last night, here it is again: my lovely boyfriend, Ryan, picked up my camera cord last night from my parent’s house and is mailing it to me today. Hopefully I will get it in Thursday…depending on the glacial pace of snail mail these days. At least its coming though, so hold on! 🙂

Last night in school we had the quiz (I think I did alright..maybe missed two) and then we set out to make some doughs for the next couple days. Because laminated doughs have to be refridgerated overnight, we couldn’t bake them off last night…that’s what tonight is for! I made a classical croissant dough, a danish dough and an almond paste filling. Can anyone guess what we are making tonight?! Last night I snacked on half a chocolate chip peanut crunch clif bar for a sweet snack.

For breakfast this morning I had waffles! No, I didn’t make them myself….but they were still really really good! I found a new kind at the store that struck my fancy: Van’s All Natural Gourmet Waffles in Hearty Oats/ Maple Fusion variety. Man, these guys are tasty!!!!! They were thick and hearty (hence the name) and contained ingredients such as flaxseed, steel cut oats and whole wheat flour. There’s no dairy in these but there is dried honey so it might not be a suitable choice for vegans. I toasted up two of them and sprinkled on about a tbsp of walnuts, poured a little maple syrup over top and ate them with a sliced banana. Mmmmm!!!!!! I’m such a sweet breakfast person. As soon as I wake up, I can count on my sweet tooth striking again……….

Yum, those waffles DO sound delicious, I’ll have to look them up! I too am a sweet breakfast person, but every so often all I want is savory stuff (today is one of those mornings). I hope your day goes well. Can’t wait for the camera cord but your blog is entertaining even without the photos so don’t sweat it!

I haven’t tried Vans waffles yet. I bypassed them when I got my Nature’s Path ones… but I would love to try them. Honey isn’t something that really bothers me if it’s accidental, but I won’t purposely buy something with honey in it. I’ll have to check out if there’s any varieties without honey. =)

waffles are one of my favorite breakfasts.. i have van’s oats & honey waffles, and while i like them a lot, the best waffles i’ve ever tried are nature’s path’s “maple cinn” waffles. 🙂

hooray for Ryan mailing your camera back!! in the meantime, your descriptions are definitely a fine substitute, since you paint a picture of your meals with words, quite nicely- you’re a fabulous writer!

mmm, those waffles sound so sumptuous!! yum!! I’ve only had the Van’s organic whole grain “original” waffles…

ahh, I just checked out Van’s product website – the maple ones aren’t vegan :0( oh well – they still sound good!! enjoy ’em!! :0)

I’m sick in bed today – hope your Tuesday goes well!!

Those waffles DO sound delicious. I have a feeling I might have trouble finding them though seeing as I’m in Canada. We don’t seem to get a lot of those neat, fancy products here. We get some, but they are quite a bit harder to come by.

I’m really big on sweets for breakfast too. If I ever consider having an egg I usually drop that idea pretty quickly. Breakfast just seems to NEED a sweet tone to it.
