Dinner

The Hungry Hungry Caterpillar?

Hey yall! Ryan and I spent a relaxing afternoon by the pool. It was HOT out and we were in the pool basically the entire time! Only about an hour after we ate lunch I was feeling hungry again so I had a small plum before going to the pool.

Then, around 3:00, I made a really really yummy and filling snack: Fage with banana and almond butter:

I sliced up half a banana and coated it with a small spoonful of almond butter and mixed it in my yogurt. It was very delicious and kept me full for the rest of the afternoon!

Here we are post-pool. Ryan made a bowl of cereal with blueberries and peaches for his snack. It was very healthy and he asked me if I would feature it on the blog ;).

As you can see I was already halfway in my sweatpants and on the couch.  The sun really drains you!

And for dinner we decided to grill out. We grilled filet mignon steaks on the bbq out by the pool. I haven’t had steak for almost a year and it was quite tasty…I must say! My portion was about 5 1/2 ounces. I also had a baked sweet potato (with smart balance light) and roasted asparagus.

Only an hour after dinner I was hungry again!! Seeing a pattern here? I just snacked on a packet of peak protein granola while watching the Olympics with Ryan.

I’m quite tired and have a feeling it will be an early night! Enjoy your last night of the weekend…back at it tomorrow!

(I’m STILL kind of hungry right now!!! Meh!)

I recently started a new weight training/ toning routing and wondering how long ago you started your new resistance training routine?

Your exercise habits are certainly an inspiration!

I completely agree with you on a previous comment stating diet is really 80% of the whole body transformation!

I’m so glad you are eating so healthily while building those guns! 🙂 Haha

I’ve noticed you’ve increased your protein intake quite a bit. Do you think that has supported your goal?

I struggle with adding protein to my diet as I used to be a hard core vegetarian. :/ Oh well little by little…!

    Thanks!

    Gaby,

I just started this about 3 weeks ago but already I feel and see results! I’ve always loved competition and have been athletic and just love the act of training and toning/molding your body. I definitely have increased my protein intake. It really has given me a ton more energy and helped me see/feel results so fast. I used to be a vegetarian as well and you totally CAN build muscle on that kind of diet but it is harder. Lentils are great and one of my favorite lunches is lentils mixed with brown rice. It keeps me going for hours and hours!

Hi Jenna! I know what you mean about the hungry again thing. I’m sure it’s all the workouts you have been doing. They have been higher intnesity and you body seems to be asking for more fuel.

I would be always hungry too if I was as active as you! And I definitely can notice your increased muscles it in your pictures as well 🙂

I was about to buy some fage but was wondering whether you can tell a difference b/w the fat free and 2%. You seem to mostly by the fat free.

I am going to try it with fruit like you recommended. Just curious, if french yogurt typically thick like greek yogurt is?

Hey Jenna! I’ve been reading your blog for a while now, you seem to have a good grasp on healthy balance. I just had to comment because I too have a black cat (her name is kiki) and I love that you feature Dexter in your blog! he is adorable…my cat likes to drink from my water glass more than her own bowl as well, haha.

Baked sweet potatoes are so wonderful. Your routine really seems to be working for you! Quite the inspiration, as I’m really trying to improve my strength as well. Thanks for posting all your routines!

    Hi Jenna!
I’m so looking forward to Summer… it’s been a mild Winter down here in South Africa, but still not warm enough to jump in the pool! Have fun!

I second the “being hungry all the time” feeling…I workout pretty much every day either running, weight lifting, or team sports and I am not one to eat a huge meal in one sitting, so I end up eating smaller more frequent meals every 3 hours. People at work think I eat nonstop all day; sometimes it sure feels like it! but my energy levels are always up and I’m never really “starving” because I always have something in my stomach and an upcoming meal/snack to look forward to. I used to include protein at every single meal/snack but lately I’ve backed down just a little, probably because it’s hot outside and summertime and I’d rather have a cold bowl of fruit or a yogurt rather than a protein bar. Do you find the heat affects your food choices?

Hanging out in the sun/swimming always makes me SUPER hungry and snacky.

I’m cracking up that Ryan asked you to feature his healthy snack on the blog- my husband does that, too! And he actually “styles” his plate sometimes. Too funny 🙂

Hey jenna – hadn’t been able to read for a couple of days and just had a catch up session! Read what you and amy were saying about eyebrowing waxing and wanted to see if you had ever tried threading? I was converted about a year ago and it is soooo much better than waxing. Had it done and have never looked back!! If you haven’t tried it, you should definitely should.

I’m so jealous of you with the amazing weather – the weather is horrific in the UK at the moment.
