Hi guys,
Thanks for letting me have the day to recoup. Honestly, its like when you forward to something for SO LONG and then it comes and passes and then you are back to the real world so fast…its all a little overwhelming actually. Murphy-Goode has been a HUGE part of my life for months and now that its over, I can’t help it—I feel a little bummed! Yesterday seems like forever ago when I was jetting away to different vineyards and speeding through Santa Monica traffic. Oh, hello reality.
The most productive thing I did today was run 2 miles on the treadmill (which felt awesome by the way) and I also went to Costco to grab some produce. I made a salad plate at my parent’s house for lunch which included canned boneless skinless salmon salad (mixed with a bit of canola oil mayo + dijon and topped with blue cheese) on spinach with blueberries, pickles and kashi crackers. A wee bit random but it worked!

After running some errands, I totally pulled a Polly and had a super ripe peach with almond butter! yummy!

The combo actually works quite nicely!
I had a glass of MG Chard with my mom and dad while I showed them all my pictures from my trip (still working on the movie!!) —
- a bit of minced garlic
- a can of diced tomatoes
- a glug of Pinot Grigio
And then I added:
- raw shrimp
- BIG handful feta cheese
- juice of 1 lemon
- pinch of hot pepper flakes
- freshly ground pepper
- freshly chopped basil
I served it all over whole wheat angel hair…not to toot my own horn or anything, but it totally rocked!

I can’t imagine how strange it must be to have gone from the craziness (and amazingness) of the last few days back to the real world! I’m glad you took the day to acclimate.
Your shrimp scampi looks amazing. I was thinking about making shrimp tacos for my parents and brother this weekend, but I may have to make this instead.
I can imagine that it would be difficult coming back to your normal environment after such a heady and dynamic trip. I know you were super pumped before going and while there. It’s a lot to recover from.
Dexter sounds as though he missed you. How sweet!
Hope you get a night of sweet sleep with no counting sheep.
It is so totally normal to feel the way you are feeling – I used to cry when my birthday was over!! Your experience sounds absolutely amazing, so take a few days to relish in the awesome memories. No need to jump back into the real world TOO soon
Your scampi looks great!
It’s always tough to come down from an exciting event! Sounds like a good relaxing day though – that’s gotta be nice after all the craziness!
Damn that shrimp looks good! I wanna come over for dinner!
I think it’s totally normal to feel that way. It’s almost like the feeling you get after a fabulous vacation. The anticipation and planning is so awesome and then when it’s over it’s like “now what?”
Can’t wait to hear your exciting job news!
I can’t wait to see the video!! Make sure to take some more relaxing ‘you’ time over the next few days!
It’s normal to feel that way – after my first big 5k I felt totally let down for that first week and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with myself.
That shrimp dinner looks SO good. I think you should come cook for me!
Getting back to the everyday routine can be comforting, too. I hope you get back into your groove soon! Your dinner looks fab.
Aww I hope you are exaggerating when you say you have 300 emails! That will keep you busy for awhile!
It’s time to relax.
Find your favorite thing.
Look around.
Forget about all the other stuff it doesn’t matter.
Your shrimp scampi looks fantastic! I’ve never tried peach and nut butter! I’ll have to get on that!
Whew, I know the feeling. Reality bites! At least you lived a dream for the weekend. And who knows? Maybe you’ll end up out there again, soon!
Aw don’t worry girl- sometimes it’s tough to settle back in to regular life after exciting days like you’ve just had. It’s like a reverse homesickness I think, it happens!
You are such a beacon of light, Jenna. All you are feeling now is so understandable. What a whirlwind you have had.
There is no doubt your future is so promising. Take some time for yourself.
You’re such an inspiration.
do you know if you got the job or?
-muffy
Muffy,
we still are talking about things.. No job offer has presented itself yet–still in the exploratory mode as of right now!
I know what you mean. It’s like culture shock to come back to reality
Oh lala. That shrimp scampi looks delish. Glad your enjoying some nice relaxation time. Can’t wait to hear about the exciting job opportunities.
That shrimp scampi looks divine! Jenna, could you suggest a red wine that is sweet and fruity? Does one even exist? Haha, I’ve tried so many in the hopes of finding one, but they all taste like sweaty gyms socks to me…bleh
Oh I forgot to comment, I made your engagement scampi last week! It was amazing. I will have to try this one next.
Can’t wait to hear about these “interesting opportunities”!!
Coming back to NY from California always throws me off! I know California is known for their traffic but I wouldn’t mind if I could live there! Your shrimp scampi looks excellent and I don’t even like shrimp!!
I know what you mean about being excited about something for so long and then having it go by too fast!! But don’t worry, I’m sure you have some amazing opportunities coming your way!!
Rest yo self honey. Take deep FL breaths and embrace your life there. And let whatever happens on the job front…happen.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Shrimp. Delicious. Glad you had a nice lazy day…you deserve it!! =)
totally normal to feel that way – enjoy the relaxation though! seems like things always get pretty crazy for you no matter what happens.
i had a peach and almond butter for dessert tonight – i am in love with the combo!
mmm love your shrimp dinner it looks fantastic!
Wow. I am so incredibly impressed by your shrimp scampi skills!
Jenna,
You have been so open with the readers here about many aspects of your life.We all enjoy reading about you!But I was just thinking today I hope you know that you have the right to keep anything and everything in your world private at anytime,no matter how open you have been in the past.
Of course you know this ,but I just wanted to express the feeling I had today that sometimes I wonder if daily bloggers should try and take one day off a week just for themselves and keeping life to ones self.
For some reason this really struck me today,I just can’t imagine having so many strangers constantly asking did you get a job, etc.Everyone means well and wishes you the best but it’s your own private life in the end.Bless you
I totally understand the let down feeling. But I’m glad you got in a great two miles today.
I’m sure you can use some wind down time! The shrimp scampi is beautiful and I don’t like shrimp! Maybe I have just never had a well-prepared shrimp dish.
Dang, it’ll take you all day to get through 300 emails. Forge ahead!
Mmm I’ve never had peaches with almond butter…but it sounds fantastic. Good luck catching up on those emails!
That scampi sounds awesome!
Can’t wait to hear about what is in store for you and your future!
shrimp scampi looks delicious! i’ll have to try this weekend
I can empathize with how you’re feeling. I went to work at Disney World a few years ago and I had built it up and up and up in my mind and the first day was fantastic, but then I mean, it becomes real life? It was sort of a ‘come down’ if you know what I mean. I had to just let myself breathe and feel a bit sad for a while and then pick myself up again.
I feel confident that the love affair between you and the California wineries isn’t over!!
What kind of treadmill do you have, Jenna?
Jenna, it looks like you had an amazing time! What an adventure? If you happen to see this measly comment amongst your others and your hundreds of emails, where do you get your little ice cream bowls? They are so cute!
I definitely know how you feel, Jenna! Sometimes it just takes awhile to come back down. You just have to remember that more good things are coming your way!!!
That dinner looks scrumptious by the way!
What a huge change from vineyard visiting to arriving back home…good for you for relaxing and taking some time to catch up a little!!
Your dinner looks fantastic…YUM!
I totally feel the same way when I come back from vacation. It’s almost like your life is boring compared to what you were doing a couple days ago, but the feeling will pass! Love the shrimp scampi dinner, I need to try that sometime.
Forgot to add that I am definitely going to try that shrimp scampi recipe. My bf loves seafood (that’s the only health food he’ll eat!) and I think he’d love that.
Coming down off the high of a good trip can suck. Good luck with all of those emails!
When I use to act we called it post show depression. It’s that feeling after something big when you feel a little lost. Suddenly you have time to just do what you want to do without focusing on anything else. It’s such a weird time.
I totally get what you mean about unwinding. Take your time getting settled. Can’t wait to hear about what exciting things may be in your future!
It’s always difficult to return home from a vacation (even though it wasn’t really a vacation in your situation!). That shrimp scampi looks delicious, as does that Edy’s mint chocolate chip ice cream;)
I’ll have to try that shrimp scampi recipe. It looks awesome!
Can imagine you feel completely out of whack…such an experience you’ve had the last week – jeez louise! I don’t blame you for taking a day – good on you in fact!
Coming home from trips is always so bittersweet, especially when you’re really looking forward to it. Sorry you’re feeling the funk
I can’t wait to see the movie though!
It’s always hard to get back to reality after such an awesome experience. I think it’s TOTALLY normal to feel a little bummed. But once you get back into your routine you’ll be right back to normal
That shrimp looks so yummy – I might just have to make that tonight!
I don’t blame you for feeling a little bummed, but just know that everything happens for a reason, and I’m sure an ever better opportunity will present itself to you!
That peach + almond butter looks so good right now!
Wow your dinner looks awesome, might have to try it this weekend!
Pasta looks fabulous!
i really love that as healthy as you are, i still see things like ice cream and pasta in your diet! it’s a great message to folks who think it’s all or nothing
