Braving The Crowd

Hi guys!

What do yall think about my new header?! I LOVE it. Zesty Cook is amazing since I never could have done that by myself. As we all know by now, technology is not and has never been my friend. I’m missing that crucial part of my brain. Lord knows how I have figured the blog thing out so far!

We didn’t end up going out for coffee this morning—we ended up working out at home for awhile while watching 13 Going On 30 (LOVE that movie) and then having coffee here. I cranked away on the elliptical for 30 minutes and then had an apple and some nuts as a snack:

Then we head out to go Christmas shopping! We stopped at Cravings on the way to get sandwiches since we didn’t go earlier for coffee. I got my absolute FAVORITE—the hot honey!

A delicious combo of ham, swiss cheese and honey mustard on homemade ciabatta—pressed panini style for ultimate yum. I ate left about a quarter of the sandwich though…it was huge and the bread was so thick that I got full really fast! This sandwich reminds me of France and I get it every time I go to Cravings. πŸ™‚

After the sammie, I was all fueled up and ready to shop. I tried on this lovely stuffed snake to get the party goin’

Now I really despise going to the mall around this time of year. I’m not trying to be a grouch, but I really don’t like the mall in general and there are just SO many people there right now. It gives me a headache just thinking about it all. I would rather be baking. πŸ˜‰ But…..we went around everywhere and I got a good chunk of my shopping done so it was worth braving the crowds. I’m SUPER excited about my present to Ryan but you all will have to wait until next weekend to find out what it is! I can’t wait to give it to him!!

I’m about to make a snack and get present wrapping right now. Christie and I are going out to dinner and to see Changeling tonight and I will post a re-cap after. Adam just called and told me to take tomorrow off as well since we don’t have too much to do!

Have a wonderful Sunday =)

I just bought my first pomegranate and was curious if there was a way to tell if it was ‘ready’ to eat or if it’s ok anytime (since I would only be using the seeds)? Thanks!

I was reading thru one of your REALLY old post of favorite books. I got excited because I love Pat Conroy too! I had to read The Lords of Discipline senior year of high school and loved it. So I read on my own The Prince of Tides. He is one of my favorite authors.

Like the new look! You mentioned ideas for x-mas budgeting in your breakfast post and my mom got me started on something great. She puts aside three dollar a day everyday starting January 1st in preparation for the next year. That way when holiday shopping time rolls around she has her x-mas fund ready and waiting. I do the same thing only with $1/ day since I do not have so many gifts to buy. At the beginning of each month I roll that 29,30 or 31 dollars (depending upon the number of days in the month) into savings for x-mas. It works wonderfully and takes off so much stress!

Jillian – your pomegranate is probably fine. Usually what I do is just de-seed the pomegranate and then store the seeds in a tupperware container so I can use them easily whenever I want.

Jenna – love the new header and hooray for your unexpected day off! Hope you have a great day tomorrow!

    jenna,
As a random follow up to my comment a few weeks ago, I found that dress you wore to the wedding at Zara today. It fit perfectly and I bought it– it will be perfect for a wedding I’m going to next weekend! Thanks for modeling it!!

You went to Cravings?! Aah, I haven’t been there in about a year! I grew up going to Vero for family reunions, and Cravings was always our post-beach destination for ice cream and sandwiches! Good times! I need to drive back down there again soon. I adore all the little shops! πŸ™‚

I love reading your blog and have only commented a couple of times. I’m only 15, and when I read about the fast metabolism when your younger(earlier’s post) I thought about it for awhile, because I always feel bad when I don’t go and exercise or when I think I ate too much. I used to be worse, but someday I hope to me more relaxed about it. An example would be for this week, I have a few semester tests and kind of just want to not worry about exercising. In yours (or anybody’s) opinion wouldn’t that be perfectly fine? Then next week my sister will be back from college break and she said she would like to exercise during break. I don’t exercise much in the first place though, because I’m not in a sport this season but I don’t want to be like a lazy bum! Sorry my comment is long and I rambled on but I just wanted some reassurance, I guess. Thanks so much for having such a wonderful blog and have a good week(almost time for break!! yay :D).

    LAE,

I think you are fine. Exercise was never meant to stress anyone out. Take Christie—my friend that is here—she is in law school and hasn’t exercised in weeks because she’s been so busy studying for her exams. And she’s fine. You aren’t going to get “fat” from taking a week break from the gym. And, you are only 15! When I was 15 I didn’t belong to a gym or anything! I didn’t really start getting serious about fitness at ALL until I was in college. So, no worries!
