Behind The Butter/ Dinner

Pizza, Pizza!

Mmm…the pizza was SO GOOD!!!!!!!

The only problem (well not really a problem to me!) was that I couldn’t stretch the dough as thin as they do at the pizza place so the pizza dough ended up being much thicker and the pizza was much smaller than what we order when we go out. But I love the dough so I’m not complaining! It was fluffy and wonderful. At the store I bought mushrooms, tomatoes, black olives and REAL mozzarella (the fresh kind) for my side of the pizza and pepperoni for Ryan’s side. He hates mushrooms! I had two huge slices…I think they were so big because the crust was so thick though. I also made a small salad that I drizzled with some balsamic vinegar. Yum!!!

Ryan and I are about to watch the movie “Waitress” with Kerri Russell. Even though I had 2 big pieces of my pizza, my sweet tooth is already striking! It’s way too cold outside though to go out for frozen yogurt :(. Ryan doesn’t have a big sweet tooth so he doesn’t have anything really at his apartment so it looks like I may be out of luck….

    Yummm, looks delicious!
I rarely eat pizza but would love to make my own with artichokes, feta cheese, spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms…I am making myself hungry! I’m going to take your suggestion and stop in at a local bakery that makes pizza and pick up some of their dough, I never think about pizza because I always thought it was to time consuming!

My mouth is honestly watering! I’m sure you and Ryan really enjoyed it… I cannot wait to try it myself. I apologize for being repetitive but I wasn’t sure if you missed my question before so I just figured I’d ask again 🙂 How do you buy your oats? and what are they called? I’m going to take the long over-due oatmeal plunge soon! Thanks so much!

Hi Danielle! Sorry about the oats….I can’t figure out how to get this thing to email me when someone comments so right now I just check and somehow I missed that one! oops!! If you are really serious about your oats heres what you should do:

    1. buy Bob’s Red Mill steel cut oats from the store
    2. the night before you want them, simmer 1/2 cup of the oats with 1 1/2 cups water on the stove with cinnamon, a pinch of salt and some vanilla for about 30 minutes or until the oats are very thick.
    3. Let the oats cool in the pot for about 10 minutes then divide them in half with a spoon and put each half into separate tupperwares and put in the fridge.
    4. The next morning, take out one tupperware and plop into a bowl. Add 1/4 cup milk and smash the oats with the back of a spoon so they combine with the milk. Stir for a second until its all combined.
    5. Chop a med. banana and add to the oats/milk
    6. Put in micro for 45 seconds. Stir. Micro again for 45 seconds
    7. Stir in 1 tbsp peanut butter.

ENJOY!!!!!!!! That may seem like a lot of effort for oats but i promise its not. I simmer mine when i’m doing something else the night before…usually while I’m cooking dinner or something. And it takes about 2 minutes in the morning to reheat!

Let me know how it goes! I think you will like it!

    Sara,

Our pizza dinner only took about 20 minutes to do, start to finish!! You could also bake that foccacia bread I made yesterday and top it with tomato sauce and cheese and bake at 450 for 15 minutes. Quick and tasty!

Like I said, this pizza looks SO GOOD!!!!!!!!! Any guess on the calories per slice? And how did you like The Waitress? I’ve been wanting to watch it but we haven’t gotten a chance.

I wish I could tell you how many calories per slice but unfortunately, since we bought the dough from the pizza shop there is no information on it. The dough was supposed to make for at 16 inch pizza but since I couldn’t spin it on my hands all cool-like, it didn’t get that big! I think we sliced it into 6 slices? And I ate 2 of them..haha I’m guessing most of the calories came from the dough though because I used an organic pure tomato sauce for the base then only a light amount of real mozz. cheese, thinly sliced and topped it with fresh veggies! (on my half that is! )

I really liked Waitress…at first I thought it was corny but as the movie kept going I decided I really liked it and it helped that it has so mainly baking scenes in it! After watching it I was really in the mood to bake a pie or a quiche or something! 🙂 I would rent it if I were you…it’s a cute, lighthearted movie that makes you feel good after it!
