Breakfast

Another Monday

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I have to admit this isn’t the most important holiday to me….I’ve always either been working or in school…in fact, I think I’ve only been out once, when I was a freshman in college. Today is no exception…just a typical Monday where I’ll be driving back to Orlando and going to school tonight.  Oh well. Maybe someday I won’t be so lame. Haha.

Last night Ryan and I watched Blood Diamond. I love this movie and it was the second time we have watched it. If yall haven’t seen it, its a good one to rent. Very very deep and moving. At least for me!! And Ryan loves it too because it totally changed my mind about wanting a big ol’ diamond. Well, my mind isn’t completely changed but now I am insisting it has to be conflict-free. While we were watching the movie I had a small bowl of my Purely Decadent Mind Chocolate Dairy-Free ice cream. Yum!

cimg1702.JPGI’m off to the eye doctor then hopefully back here for a quick run before I have to head out. See you later!

MMM! The pumpkin seeds look very festive! I love blood diamond too, and luckily I got the DVD for free because neither my dad nor my brother liked it after they bought it, lucky me!

You don’t have to feel bad. St. Patrick’s Day was technically on Saturday so you’re not missing out on much. 😉

Mmm.. that’s a beautiful bowl of oatmeal!! Love the trail mix on top. =)

That movie and another one I saw around the same time (can’t think of the name for some reason) made me decide against wanting a diamond. Fake diamonds all the way for me 😉 But yea conflict free is cool too, just hard to find I hear.

    Jenna,

I really enjoy reading your blog but I’ve never posted anything. I just wanted to give you my opinion on diamonds (although I’ve never seen blood diamond). After my husband and I talked to a number of people and did a fair amount of research, we concluded that it is virtually impossible to buy a “cruelty free” diamond – even if the store/company claims that it is cruelty free. So, we ended up going with a man-made diamond (still a real diamond, just not naturally synthesized). I think there is only one company who makes them called Gemesis (http://www.gemesis.com/default.aspx). You can only get colored diamonds right now (orange, yellow, blue and pink) so if you want a clear one, you’ll have to go natural. I just thought you might be interested!
I have a yellow diamond from them and I love it.

that bowl of oatmeal looks so festive with the trail mix on top! is that trail mix that you made on your own, or did you buy it? if you made it yourself, what did you add to it?

    erica,

Thats the same trail mix I eat all the time that I made myself. It has cashews, pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries in it. I don’t buy trail mix…I prefer to make my own bc then I can add whatever I want!

Oh man, EVERYONE at my university celebrates St. Patrick’s Day – the big parade is this afternoon, so no one will be going to classes, basically, haha.

Love the green pumpkin seed addition to your oatmeal – so fun!! I’ll celebrate later with a big bowl of green grapes and kiwi slices; in addition to my daily dose of brussels sprouts and leafy greens!! :0D

    Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

my bf and I love blood diamond too! After watching the movie he wanted to give me a pearl ring or something else instead of a diamond engagement ring, but I wanted a cruelty free diamond (I know they can be hard to find!) we are still toying with our options but its a difficult decision bc of course i want a diamond! Happy St. Patty’s day everyone! I don’t really celebrate either, even though i have some Irish in me, bc i hate beer and most irish food..haha I’ll stick to my wine!

thanks jenna.. that’s a good idea considering there is usually always one thing that i’m not particularly wild about in the store bought trail mixes. 🙂

Having a conflict-free diamond was really important to me (I told my fiancee to get a sapphire instead.) However, he was able to get a conflict-free diamond called the Ikuma that was mined in Canada. They only discovered these diamonds in 1991, and they use environmentally-sustainable practices to mine them. They are sold at Ben Bridge jewelers. Mine is BEAUTIFUL and I am so glad he ignored my sapphire request and got me a diamond I can feel good about instead! 🙂

here’s the website about the Ikuma: http://www.benbridge.com/Pages/ikuma.htm
