Recipe Box Challenge

In 2006, I stumbled across my great grandmother’s old orange box of faded recipe cards, most from when she owned a tiny bakery during World War Two.  Recently, I’ve started a project where I am baking my way through each of her recipes, adapting if need be and documenting the process. Join me for a nostalgic Crisco and graham cracker crumb-filled journey!

Where’s your split pea soup recipe?

Hey Jenna, a long time ago you posted the most wonderful recipe for pumpkin whoopie pies. Do you remember that? That year I made a ton of those for my family’s Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, though I’m having trouble finding the recipe now. Do you still have that one?
Thanks

ahh I was JUST thinking about those/drooling over the recipe last night. I think I’m going to make them in the next two weeks…can you wait that long? hehe

wait! I just found the post! Yay! It’s titled “Pumpkin Galore (with recipes)”
Thank goodness, I have some church ladies coming over tonight and wanted to make these for them. THanks for the recipe, Jenna!

Jenna,

I’ve heard that cookie dough (for drop or slice and bake cookies) can be made ahead of time and frozen, but I have never attempted it. With Christmas falling on Saturday, I am worried about my baking schedule this year, since I’m working through the 23rd! Can you tell me if freezing cookie dough really works? Have you tried it? I’m scared to trust it!

Leslie,
I’ve tried it and it works! My mom always did it too. Still makes delicious cookies. :)
I’m no Jenna, but at least you have it from someone who reads her blog and has done a lot of baking, haha.
